About Beacon Hill School

Beacon Hill School was opened in September 2004 when two older Special Schools closed (Woodacre & Knightsmead).

We currently operate on two sites. The main site, situated in South Ockendon has facilities for pupils aged 3 – 16 years and the Post 16 Provision situated near Grays is for students 16 – 19 years.

The school caters for pupils/students who have Profound and Severe Learning Difficulties and complex medical needs. We work closely with The Local Authority, Treetops School, Thurrock and Basildon College, local schools and other services to serve the community of Thurrock. In addition we operate support services for the Local Authority, providing risk assessments for pupils with physical needs and advice for ICT assessments.

From September 2007 we have been designated ‘A Specialist College for Sensory and Physical Needs’.

If you would like to contact us or to visit us, we would be happy to welcome you. We believe that knowledge and experience is to be shared; we want to learn as an organisation and to share our developing expertise.
